Rules & Setup

Everything you need to know to play in a Majors Pool.

Overview

Majors Pool is a fantasy golf game for PGA major tournaments (Masters, PGA Championship, U.S. Open, The Open). Each player drafts a team of 6 golfers and competes against their group over all 4 rounds of the tournament.

Player Tiers

The tournament field is divided into 4 tiers based on the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR). LIV Golf players are placed in their own tier regardless of ranking.

TopPick 2

Top 15 non-LIV players by OWGR

MiddlePick 1

Upper half of remaining field

BottomPick 1–2

Lower half of remaining field

LIVPick 1–2

All LIV Golf players

You must draft exactly 6 golfers total: 2 from Top, 1 from Middle, then fill the remaining 3 slots from Bottom and LIV (minimum 1 from each).

Scoring

Best 4 of 6

Each round, only your 4 best-scoring golfers count toward your team total. Your 2 worst performers are dropped — this is your safety net.

To-Par Scoring

All scores are displayed relative to par. A score of -3 means 3 under par. Lower is better. Scores are color-coded: red for under par, green for over par, gray for even.

Live Updates

Scores are pulled from ESPN every 5 minutes during tournament play. Leaderboards auto-refresh every 60 seconds.

Cut Line & Penalties

Cut Line

After Round 2, the top 50 players and ties make the cut. Players who miss the cut (MC) do not play Rounds 3 and 4.

Missed Cut Penalty

Your first 2 missed cuts are free — those golfers simply score nothing for R3/R4. Starting with your 3rd MC, each additional missed-cut player receives a penalty score equal to the worst completed score in that round.

Withdrawal / Disqualification

If a golfer withdraws (WD) or is disqualified (DQ) during the tournament, they receive the worst field score as a penalty for any remaining rounds.

Groups & Payments

Private Groups

Create a group and share the 6-character invite code with friends. Each group has its own leaderboard.

Entry Fees

Group owners set the entry fee (or make it free). Payments are collected and confirmed via Venmo.

Payouts

Group owners configure 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place payouts (fixed amounts or percentages of the pool). After the tournament, the owner sends payouts directly via Venmo deep links.

Draft Deadline

Teams must be submitted before Round 1 tee times begin. Once the tournament starts, rosters are locked and cannot be changed. Make sure your team is set before Thursday morning!
